Eat, guilt free, this Thanksgiving

  • Today's Abraham quote: Expectation is a focus with a vibration that permits the receiving of what you're focused upon—and, you expect things, both wanted and unwanted.
  • Shameless plug: Listen to Lisa's weekly radio show at www.blogtalkradio.com. Follow the link on the left side of this page.
Have you ever been able to do that, just enjoy Thanksgiving and not feel bad at the end of the day about how much you ate? Wanna try, this year?

It can certainly be done.

Thanksgiving, obviously, is a day of "giving Thanks," right? So how about starting off the day, as soon as you wake--even before you get out of bed--with what Abraham calls a "Rampage of Appreciation?" Before your feet even hit the floor, take a few minutes to think about the things that you're truly grateful for, the things that make your life worth living. There are several links and videos below that will help to explain what a Rampage of Appreciation is and how to do it, in case you've never heard of it.

The purpose that Abraham gives for these rampages is to raise your vibration in order to attract more of the same into your life. What that means is, if you're depressed and choose to wallow in that depression (which is your right), then you will naturally tend to notice things to stay depressed about. If you choose to let go of your depression, and search for things to be happy about, you will naturally begin to notice things that make you happy. They will "magically" multiply and before you know it, you're not depressed anymore. It really does work, when you take the time to do it.

Since it's Thanksgiving, this is a perfect time to make a conscious effort to spend an entire day on one of these rampages of appreciation and gratitude. Really pay attention to what you're thankful for. Be aware of what brings you joy. Notice the little things that you usually blow off as background noise, the things you take for granted.

When it comes time to eat, you don't have to fill your plate the first time around, because there's more where that came from. Pick out your favorite foods--just take a single scoop--and truly savor them. Be ecstatically happy with each bite. Enjoy every millisecond of what it feels like to eat your favorite foods--the taste, the texture, the temperature, the lovely way it feels as it slides down your throat. Don't save the best for last, dive right in to the best of the best, taking one bite of this and then one bite of that ... have an absolutely delightful time appreciating the experience.

Then, stop when you're full, knowing there's more where that came from (we all know that leftovers last for DAYS!). You can always nibble a little here and there, as the day wears on, so there's no need to stuff your stomach so full of food that it hurts. When you deeply appreciate and give thanks for the sensuality of truly enjoying food, it becomes a meditation.

It's only when you feel guilt, gluttony or some other negative emotion as you eat that you feel like you can't get enough and have to eat more, more, MORE!

And, hey, if you do "overeat," give yourself a break. Thanksgiving is a once a year occurrence. It's okay to do this once in a while. Be thankful for this opportunity and enjoy every single mouthful with every fiber of your being, with every ounce of your spirit.

Don't forget to look for reasons to smile!
