Bon voyage, Kristina!

  • Today's Abraham quote: Use whatever excuse you can to vibrate in harmony with those things you've been saying you want. And when you do, those things that are a vibrational equivalent flow into your experience in abundance. Not because you deserve it, not because you've earned it, but because it's the natural consequence of the Law of Attraction. That which is like unto itself is drawn.
As I begin writing this, my elder daughter's plane is leaving for Turkey. They're probably just pushing back from the gate right now. She, her husband and their daughter will be gone for two years while he's stationed there with the Air Force.

Well, she says she'll visit, and I plan to visit her as well, but two years is a very long time to live half a world away.

I feel a mixture of things. On one hand, the most important hand, I'm excited for her. A part of me envies her the adventure. How fantastic to have this opportunity to explore a whole new culture--in fact, several new cultures, as she'll be able to easily travel throughout Europe! My granddaughter will have a much broader perspective about the world than kids who just go to school here in the States and never leave home. The best part is, it's job related so the trip is paid for, as is their housing and a job is waiting. She doesn't have the financial worry about how to do something so grand as move to another continent, "across the pond."

She'll be able to swim in the Mediterranean as easily as I can swim in the Gulf of Mexico, which is just a few miles from me. It's a short drive from their base to the Sea. I envy her the first moment she dips her toes in it, knowing that this is something so huge, such an unusual experience for someone from the US. When I visit her, we intend to see Greece, Italy and Malta (the country from which my paternal grandfather emigrated), at the very least.

On the other hand, they'll be living very close to an explosive part of the world, only a few miles from Syria. None of us can even guess what will be transpiring in the Middle East in the next two years. I'm her mom and I can't help being afraid for them. I've seen too many stories about American families grieving for their kids over there.

But, I won't go there. I, instead, try to figure out why her path is taking her there. Of course, just having the experience is enough reason, but I think it's something deeper. Whether she knows it or not--whether she admits it or not--she's a lightworker. If she were reading this, she'd likely roll her eyes at me, because she's not into the whole airy-fairy New Age thing: she's very logical about her spiritual beliefs. (I tend to share that way of looking at life, but I also acknowledge the deeper stuff.)

Like it or not, that's what she is. Perhaps just the placement of her being, her expanded consciousness, in connection with others of her ilk in that part of the world will help to bring about change there. Perhaps she'll bring a higher vibe to an area that needs it so badly. That extra drop of light in the Middle Eastern bucket can't help but change the energetic makeup over there.

So, bon voyage, Kristina! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures! Eat some couscous for me!
